Well, someone has to start this thread, and I did go last night, but it took Significant Eater longer than expected to arrive, so I was content with an aperitif and a glass of Pet Nat, and 5 delicious

By the time this thread peters out,I think that Frenchette may have a burger on the menu...

In keeping with a long-standing tradition on MFF, this response is obligatory:   Having been to neither The Grill or Frenchette, I can unequivocally state Frenchette is certainly more "Mad Menesque"

What Galician crustsacean did they not have st Frenchette tonight?

We should go together and have Schroedinger's percebes.

If it's any consolation they weren't very good a couple of days ago. The lobster was, though, and the fried anchovies.

Did they change the lobster? I saw a photo recently and it looked like a very different dish.

I think in this context passion is a better word than vision. Vision without passion is a suped up burger.

Passion without vision Is the best Bolognese sauce you ever tasted.

I don't see that passion is very meaningful. You can be passionate and still kind of suck.

See also: "made with love."

I was at a free-jazz festival concert tonight, and one of the organizers boasted from the stage that the "homemade" food they were selling was "made with love".

I thought: I'm not eating THAT.

Free-jazz makes me nervous enough. Menace me with love-infested food and I am OUTTA there.

Mad men? I guess she's never been to The Grill.

However, the food is much better at Frenchette and the wine list has more fizz.

But, the food at La Mercerie is better than both of the others and I confidently say that having not eaten there either.

I was somewhat astonished by the number of pét-nats that open their wine list.
