I don’t have a problem with it, either. My problem is with speaking derisively of the older, clearly superior dining culture.

there’s quite a few live poultry places left in brooklyn, the one that’s closest to me smells so bad that eating something that came from that building is inconceivable.

 

Yes, and the other boros, although I think the one near the foot of the Williamsburg Bridge in Manhattan did close.

Some years ago I was visiting my mother.   She had just had her kitchen painted by an "old world craftsman".    He was a great painter and super nice guy.   He went hunting the weekend after he finished the work.   New to this country, he wasn't  aware of our laws, much less mores.    He brought my mother, as a gift, 30 plucked songbirds.    She declined, saying she didn't know how to cook them, so he came over and cooked for her.    (I left before dinner was served.)

Be sure to visit Sunken Harbor Club upstairs for tikki drinks. It really steals the show. There are a few Booker & Dax alum working up there

there’s only one place in sf where i have encountered them and apparently there is a season, something i didn’t know until recently

I'm pretty sure this depends on where the shellfishing (for soft shell clams) is occurring.
