Wilfrid
Worth seeing of course, but falls between two stools. It's not a comprehensive retrospective, as it's missing too many masterpieces. Nor does it concentrate on any particular period or theme, that I could see. It's certainly not a study of works surrounding or leading up to the "Birth of the World" painting.* So it's kind of a selected Miro, which is no bad thing, and some of the paintings are just honestly really funny. *I see the MoMA website says it "situates" that painting "in relation to other major works by the artist," but this is flummery. Sneakeater
Well, it is situated near other paintings.
Orik
The miro exhibition I probably liked best was a small but well designed exploration of his woman and bird theme. At MAPFRE I think.
Wilfrid
That certainly sounds cogent. This is in no way a bad show, but it could be called: “Bunch of Miro, Please Buy Tickets and Coffee Cups.”
