As of Sunday, fully vaccinated with Pfizer.  Yesterday, a had a sore, arm, headache and low fever.  Today, I'm fine.

I wonder if they'll go back to claiming they're gluten intolerant after this.

So they fucked me yesterday and I'll be going back this morning. Ran out of doses allegedly - or they said they would have to open a new vial for my shot, and the rest would go bad, so could I come back today? Me, being the pleasant individual I am, agreed. The few people I don't argue with nor give a hard time to are the ones trying to help us all; I figure they have enough aggravation, why add to it?

This is after the call on Saturday reminding me to show up on Monday, enter at 41st Ave and Baxter (wrong), going to the front entrance and waiting to check in (wrong), going to room A-122 (wrong), etc. etc. Oh - also I filled out the same exact forms i filled out the first time.

Let's just say the distribution of shots into arms has not yet been perfected.

Here is a picture of the lovely model of Elmhurst Hospital, proudly displayed in the entrance to the lobby...

Might give a clue as to why there is some confusion. It's like the worst LEGO set one can imagine.

Sounds like Elmhurst and Sutter Health (CPMC) used the same architect, maybe even blueprint.    Patients aren't allowed loose in the hospital without an escort since too many got lost.    Staff even jokes about getting lost.     If there is/was logic to the layout, it's beyond me and most hospital personnel.

Oh - even better for those in the Bay Area - it's like the Winchester Mystery House of hospitals.

Our first shot allegedly today.    joe's story scares the b'jesus out of me.   So far, the location has been changed twice, by phone, while our online confirmation still send us to the second (rather than third and final) location.   And while our appointments were supposedly linked, husband is being sent to one floor and me another.    I am wondering how we are supposed to link our second shot appointments from two locations with obviously communications problems.

Imperfect answer: if you’re both getting the same vaccine, try to insist on the exact date one month hence (for Moderna) & agree beforehand on what hour to try to negotiate.  If your calendars are sync’ed, immediately put in the scheduled date/time so that the other can use it to negotiate (beg).

I am awfully good at standing my ground/getting my way in such situations.   And Chuck can make people wish they'd not come in to work that day.    As I see it, he is scheduled 5 minutes ahead of me.    When making his 2d appt, he should alert them to my need and have them (somehow) go ahead and schedule me tandem with him.

When I made these appointments for the first shots, it was no problem to get him signed up also and at a sequential time.    Maybe just beginner's luck...

Recap: Arrived on time at vaccine location last instructed.   Nope, only giving second shots there.   Redirected to original vaccine center.   Roared across town, onto freeway.   Exit onto, "bingo", Rankin St.    Huge banners on a slick warehouse celebrated "Sutter Health Vaccine Center".    Zillion security guards, told to park any available slot.   Large crowd.  Shit.   Start to join them when guard redirects us in different direction, telling us that the Mayor was holding a press shot.    Escorted inside, rushed through empty rat-runs, excellent tech administered unnoticeable shot, 15 minute reaction stay, which was ironically overseen by our personal MD.

While being evaluated, we were approached by a guy with a mike and photographer who asked if we would be willing to be included in a promo documentary for Sutter Health.    Husband answered, "Sure, if I can tell the truth".    Guy asked for his thoughts, and thanked us and left.

Home just short of 2 hours.

Second shot:

Arm soreness - check.

Mild Headache - check.

Big toe is killing me - but I don't think that has to do with the injection.

First shot:

Arm soreness:- essentially none; actually slept on that arm most of night.

Head or body aches - none

Fatigue - normal

Had my second dose of Moderna today.  Again at the Dodger Stadium parking lot.  Only took 90 minutes this time, but I came with provisions, tandoori chicken which hit the spot.  Now, I am taking Tylenol to ward off any potential aches.

24+ hours later, I am now feeling some side effects from same - 99.8 on the fever gun. Normally in the high 97s. Achey. Cranky. Oh wait - I'm always cranky. All good. But the toe...fuck.
