Sneakeater
This Toby Cecchini creation is gorgeous. Erin 2 oz. Rye 1/2 oz. Bigallet China-China 1/2 oz. Suze 1/4 oz. Carpano Antica 1/4 oz. Cocchi Doppo Teatro (recipe calls for 1/4 oz. Cinzano Rosso) (at the end of the night, I wanted to go heavier into the bitter) 2 tbsp. Allspice/Pimento dram Stir. Strain into rocks glass over ice. But it sounds pretty amazing.
Sneakeater
The key words there are "all that Suze".
bloviatrix
Interesting story about Campari and how it became a bar staple. Some of you might remember Kara from eGullet.
hollywood
I recall the print ads for Campari in the early 80s with adplay about how you never forget first time. Some ads featured Elizabeth Ashley looking seductive. This coincided with Ms. Ashley being hailed as the best lay in New York. http://magazinesadsandbooks.com/Magazine-Ad-for-Campari-Alcohol-Elizabeth-Ashley-Celebrity-Endorsement-1982-P2184625.aspx
Wilfrid
I recall Ms Ashley but not the specific accolade. I just watched Limelight and decided I need to date Claire Bloom. 😂
hollywood
I think this was after Ms. Ashley had an affair with Thomas McGuane.
Sneakeater
Watch out for what she writes about you afterwards.
StephanieL
Elizabeth Ashley was pretty hot in her day. Today's cocktail doesn't get much more basic than a Corn 'n Oil: 2 oz. of aged rum and 1/2 oz. velvet falernum, stirred in a rocks or old-fashioned glass over ice. Sneakeater
Oh I meant Claire Bloom. There is nothing -- I mean NOTHING -- better than a Corn 'n' Oil.
Wilfrid
Claire Bloom can give me any review she likes (I mean we’re back in 1952).
Sneakeater
What she wrote about Philip Roth was hardly just a “review”. (I’m not saying what she wrote wasn’t true—I’d have no idea.)

I have both of these things.🤔
