Unless we want to contrive a new class of cocktails we call Fruit Bats.

Sneakeater
After a Pasta con la Colatura, you need to have some form of Limoncello as a digestivo. You just do. Anyone in Amalfi would. Tonight, though, I was feeling a cocktail. A Walk in the Woods This one badly named cocktail: there's nothing woodsy about it in the slightest. They should have called it We'll Sing in the Sunshine. 1 oz. amber Rum 1 oz. Vermouth Blanc 1 oz. Limoncello Stir. Strain into rocks glass over ice. Garnish with a big lemon peel. Sneakeater
This is good, but I actually like my own Fruit Bat No. 1 more.
bloviatrix
Orange wheel-less Bicicletta. Seemed appropriate considering the weather and the fact that the Tour de France ended this morning
StephanieL
The Scofflaw: 1 1/2 oz. rye 1 oz. dry vermouth (Dolin is our go-to brand) 3/4 oz. lemon juice 3/4 oz. grenadine Shake and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a strip of lemon peel.
bloviatrix
That sounds like something I would enjoy. But the only way I'm going to be able to get my hands on kosher dry vermouth is to make my own (or enlist a friend to make it for me)
StephanieL
Wow, hard to believe someone hasn't come up with a kosher dry vermouth.

And for whatever reason the decent stuff (which you can get in Israel and the UK) isn't imported to the US because they don't think there is a market for it (there is)
Evelyn
I'm surprised Duty Free doesn't stock it in Israel or UK airports. It sound like it would be a pretty good seller. *presuming a friend who recently mentioned something similar returning from the the UK is correct.

joethefoodie
In our buildings, we have shabbos elevators. We also have an upcoming project to replace all 24 elevators, meaning the shabbos elevators will be out of service for a good 3 months in each of our 12 towers. In those instances, our observant population seems to get a special dispensation in order to take the standard elevators, and not walk up and down many flights of stairs. I think, for as often as one might have a cocktail containing non-kosher vermouth (i.e. good vermouth), a special dispensation is warranted. And I offer it.

(Because I think, but don't quote me, the shabbos goy can't be a Jew).
