I need better supervision.

I went to a local crafts fair today and scored 3 vintage coupe glasses for $9 total.  So we enjoyed a Twentieth Century in them in the backyard this afternoon. 1 1/2 oz. gin 3/4 oz. Lil

My neighbors have been consistently impressed by the variety of cocktails that I'm drinking. It seems I'm developing quite the reputation. Thanks to you all.

From Toby Checchini

2 oz. Rye

1/2 oz. Suze

1/2 oz. Bigalet China-China

1/2 oz. sweet Vermouth

5 dashes (about 2/3 teaspoon) (or about 1/10 oz.) Allspice/Pimento Dram ( @StephanieL can have homemade, but mine has to come out of a bottle!)

Stir.  Strain into double Old Fashioned glass over ice.  Garnish with orange and lemon twists.

My best friend got me this instant cocktail kit for my birthday.  Muddle the sugar cube with a little hot water until you get a syrup, add spirit, and stir over ice.  I tried the Manhattan one a few days ago, and boy did it make a strong drink.

I don't understand; don't you add the amount of booze you'd like? And who puts sugar in a Manhattan?

There are "recipes" on the back of the package--this one calls for 2 oz. of rye. Believe me, it wasn't very sweet.

But - balanced with an ounce of sweet vermouth and bitters! Which I don't see how a sugar cube can do.

Believe it or not, there's actually vermouth and bitters in the cubes.  Not sure how that's possible, but they're listed on the ingredients.
