Wilfrid
I woke up early yesterday and made a morning trip to Netcost in Bensonhurst. Came away with two pounds of different headcheeses, jars of herring, a can of cod liver (to be eaten at home as its laxative effects are dramatic), a kind of sheek kebab and a mystery sausage, both from the lunch buffet. I also found on sale a can with no English on its label, but a picture of a cow. Curious meat product? No, condensed milk. 😲
Orik
Moloko is your hint.
Sneakeater
That's Russian for "condensed", right?
Orik
Right, and Pravda is Russian for truth.
Wilfrid
Pravda moloko, condensed truth. Thanks guys!
Wilfrid
The mystery sausage was great. Looked like a coiled Toulouse sausage, but the filling was not finely ground: chunks of meat and fat. Veal?
Orik
All the coiled Russian sausages I know are called Kielbasa / Kolbasa but there are many varieties. Netcost conveniently have a pictogram: Â https://www.shop.netcostmarket.com/categories/99021/products

Wilfrid
In store, they now have a soundtrack of a cheerful choir singing about how great Netcost is.

Wilfrid
Planning to begin my latest Netcost headcheese journey tonight. I estimate I have eight large servings of different kinds of headcheese in the freezer. Not to mention the rollmops.
Sneakeater
Going out tonight is brave. But headcheese is worth it.
Orik
Recently @Sivan got headcheese (with blood) from the Ukrainian butcher. I don't think it was any different than usual but she got them to slice it thin and the plate was hot and this was no worse than any of the Lupa / Ssąm melty testa.
