Maison Pickle

UWS, I have walked by many times and checked the menu: the specialty is French dips and I don’t eat a lot of bread.

Stumbled in for a late lunch yesterday with my daughter after we had walked from 34th Street. The front looks narrow, leading to a long bar, but there are huge seating areas in the back (must be l-shaped) and a huge serving staff.

It’s popular. And the reason seems to be the French dips which are just vast. They look good too.

My daughter picked the Lumberjack from the sandwich menu. Not a dip, it features three fat slices of French toast, three fried eggs and stacks of bacon and sausage. She packed a lot to go.

I went for the bacon steak on the appetizer menu. About half a pound of smoked pork belly smeared with maple syrup. Appetizer? What could you possibly eat as an entree after it?

Attractive place, nice service, nothing wrong with any of the food and my god there’s a lot of it. If you’re in the neighborhood and very hungry…

their sister restaurant jacob’s pickles is probably the best beer bar I’ve found on the UWS.

Which possibly means you don't need to necessarily eat the food (I have, and can say that with certainty).
