stone Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 Greetings. This thread seems to have disappeared. And, yes, I think the title should be "What podcasts are you listening to," because I think "podcasting" is the act of making a podcast. But, whatever. A History of Rock Music in 500 Songs. This is possible the most thorough and erudite rock music lecture I've ever come across (excepting, of course, our own "Has Pop Music Stopped?" thread.) The guy is up to song 176 -- Sympathy for the Devil. That entry is split into four episodes, with a total running length of about six hours. It's pretty much a history of The Rolling Stones from Aftermath through Let It Bleed and Altamont. It discusses the Oscar Wilde (his trials and tribulations), 60's pop culture, the musical influences on the Stones, the Brian Jones tragedy, the interpersonal relationships among the band members, management and girlfriends, and much more. Kind of incredible. I've just started the four hour installment on The Greatful Dead. Quote
Wilfrid Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 Shorter than one of their sets at least. @Steve R. 🙂 1 Quote
Steve R. Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Probably shorter than Dark Star. Maybe the 1st installment has "when Jerry lost a finger"? Quote
