uni, grilled bread, brown butter, tamari. this was nice, sort of a play on uni nigiri-zushi. i would have preferred the real thing however.

fermented daikon radish, white kimchi broth, shiso. good palate cleanser and gently acidic without clashing too much.

wagyu beef, roasted endive, bone marrow jus. we switched to a california pinot noir for this and the duck course; lots of notes of black pepper.

1977 madeira. it was excellent as you might expect.

chocolate ice cream cake, gold leaf, chocolate crumble.

sorry, some pix loaded in the wrong order but i’m sure you can figure it out.

the meal ended with a cup of mugi-cha (roasted barley tea).

total for 2 came out to $1,497.50 (with tax and 20% tip). we’ll be back, for sure. iirc the tip was something i had added on as there was a service charge already included but i wasn’t thinking…chalk it up to the wine.
