Still no $%$#% rain. And more ups and downs. Just when the tomato and zucchini plants start blossoming, here comes another cold wave of nights just above or below freezing. N is scrambling to cover the more vulnerable plants.
prasantrin
We just had our 3rd (4th?) blizzard of the year. My house is on a corner, and there's some sort of vortex at my house. So all the snow (and litter, for that matter) seems to end up in front of my door. I could barely open it this morning!

We go skating every Sunday - kid takes lessons and my skates live in our trunk. And while it will be cool to skate without a coat, I have a feeling the ice will be crap. bloviatrix
There is a rink on the other side of the boards. Ice on the southern end of the rink was a slushy mess because of the sun.
Sneakeater
That I was walking around tonight without a coat but just a sport jacket was bizarre.
Wilfrid
I was out in a sports jacket this afternoon and I was hot, could have done just a t-shirt.
Wilfrid
Bless the women of New York, all out in their crop tops and any place with tables outside was packed.

Wilfrid
Again, I don’t want a big nasty winter storm, but I have tried to plan around it and where is it? (In Minnesota probably).
Wilfrid
Ouch, 9 degrees. I am at home with heating but I have a leaky window behind my reading chair 🥶 I caught a quick blast of sleet on my way to the library this afternoon, then saw the first snowflakes of the season on the way back. Others are doing worse of course.
small h
The catnip is froze. Laszlo will have to start drinking, like the rest of us.
Wilfrid
This is why we humans have the Ardbeg. Coldest night in three years in NYC, it says. Most of my apartment is warm but I am sitting in my reading chair with a sweater and a scarf because I will not break my habits just because it’s cold.
