Orik
But I agree with sneak about the writing
joethefoodie
5 hours ago, Orik said: Lots of cocktails, drinks, whisky, and things I must order in places I absolutely don't care about. This was pretty much my take on that list. Yes, the writing is nice.
Sneakeater
No no forget the list. Read the preceding pieces. They're excellent.
Sneakeater
I mean, like @Wilfrid, I thought the list was good, too. Maybe it’s obvious to folks like us that 9:15 is now The Designated Walk-In Time. But it probably wasn’t to the general public.
Wilfrid
Mm I think that’s exactly when we got our waitlisted table at El Quijote.
Orik
Those magical 30 minutes between when young folks are done with their five martinis and one appetizer and when you can hear the plancha being scraped.
Orik
Restaurants are worse and more expensive than before, and such short hours! If a restaurant says it's open on Monday, maybe it lies. If it is really open - don't go on Monday. If it's closed on Monday, don't go on Sunday. Thursdays 9:15 is ideal. If a restaurant appears underpriced, go as often as you can because it's just their business people sleeping on the job https://ny.eater.com/2022/6/13/23166180/momfuku-ko-no-tipping-gratuities-labor-nyc-restaurants?fbclid=IwAR2koCNC4lA4HeMy1nWQ5aDOcNBuZlwebEh4TfPUg-6IOPHcvkYx117671w
Sneakeater
See? You should publish your own list.
Neocon maudit
I would pay money [even up to $5 US fiat] for Orik's list. May have to go out and purchase this week's issue [when Vox took over, they must have realised I'd ceased paying for New York long ago, and my deliveries finally ceased].
