President Jimmy Carter

One degree of separation. I knew a litigation partner based in Atlanta who, as a young lawyer, had been offered -- and declined -- a role in the Carter administration. Looking him up, I learn that he passed away in June this year. That's my Jimmy Carter story.

I once had a can of Billy Beer.  And I used to eat Georgia peanuts.  That's pretty much it, other than I met Rosalynn Carter when she was speaking on mental illness & promoting her book "Within Our Reach" at a small event at Columbia-Presb./Psych. Institute.   She inscribed it (my copy, not all of them) "To Steve".

Seriously, two incredibly good people with very strong opinions and the moral fiber to act upon them.  I'm glad they led long lives.
