Sneakeater
I was so positive that he was already dead that I would have bet money on it. (And believe me, Scully remained almost as important in my town as he is in yours.)

Sneakeater
We'll all agree HE'S already dead.
Sneakeater
It's kind of remarkable when you think about it. I don't know a single person who doesn't think Vin Scully was the greatest baseball sportscaster of all time. Not one. That kind of universal acclaim doesn't happen very often. (I mean, we all here know a person who doesn't like The Beatles.)
Sneakeater
(Of course, now @Steve R. will post that he doesn't think Vin Scully is the greatest baseball sportscaster of all time.)
joethefoodie
Really the greatest...
joethefoodie
One of the things that made him so great...he knew when he didn't have to say a word, and just let the picture speak for itself. That just doesn't happen now.

Well, he didn't sing "Wabash Cannonball" like Dizzy Dean.
joethefoodie
An older friend was mentioning the days of listening to Red Barber and Mel Allen and Scully were pretty great. I put on a pre-game show yesterday and other than the screaming and yelling, all they talk about is betting. Vin probably had enough of that shit.

Steve R.
Sorry Sneak, no real disagreement (or major agreement for that matter). A long time ago, I thought his name was Vince Cully. Other than that, I got nothing.
