Lundy's (Red Hook)

We've been there 3 times and like it.  I think Rosner got the "homage" vs "same as" right.  Other than the fact that the owner grew up in that part of Brooklyn (as did I) and really wants to keep the memory of the original Lundy's alive by offering a similar Shore Dinner & some written recounting of those days, there is no real connection.

There are 2 rooms & I think she was way too hard on the dining room's decor.  They're not going for glitz or designer, but have made a comfortable room for folks to have a non fancy but grown up dinner, fireplace included.  The food is consistent with the price point and the kitchen is skilled but not trying to do anything fancy or innovative.  The long bar room with a stage in the rear is a great place for a very good burger and a drink or two.  Location is tough, as it's not near any train & hardly any bus line.  If you have a car (or are close enough to afford a Lyft/Uber), its a perfect place to meet folks, hang out and have good food/drink without pretense.  It'll develop over time.

Disclosure:  the FOH is a friend from Noodle Pudding and we know the owners from Red Hook Winery, so we've been warmly welcomed.  However, although we actually spent time with each of the owners (separately) at 2 of our dinners there, we have basically received no comps (well, a couple of biscuits).

We plan on going back pretty often for food/drinks/music at the bar and the main room.

more first hand reports from red hook: my attempt to walk into the red hook tavern for lunch last week was met with laughter, I ended up at hometown bbq where the brisket and pulled pork were excellent and the sides were truly terrible.

Never thought that I'd be linking to Eater as a better overview than Rosner but, in this case, I think it captures the place better (I don't recognize the author's name but will remember to watch for him):

Maybe I’m wrong, but in the 2nd paragraph, that writer states:

Quote

It’s much smaller, with about 100 seats, as opposed to 2,800 in the original. And it’s on a different waterfront, looking out at New York Harbor, not Jamaica Bay

Didn’t it look out on Sheepshead Bay, from Emmons Avenue?  Or, I guess writer could have wrote: “not Atlantic Ocean?”

8 minutes ago, Steve R. said:

Said hello for both of you & Rich says hello back.

As for the music, I got a shrug from the owner about when Mondays will start.  I'm guessing "no time soon".

Was the accordion still on the stage?
