There was a bit of sausage in tomato sauce sitting in my fridge, along with some shrimp stock. And also a few of spring's most favored (by some) allium...

Which, when looking at the size of them, realize I might have been able to make pickles with the whole batch. Ahhhh, well.

Instead, I opened a can of baby clams from Spain.

And made linguini with baby clams, sausage, tomato, Calabrian chili, and herbs.  Oh...and...RRRRRAAAAAMMMMMPPPPPSSSSS!

Burrata with briefly heated peeled and chopped plum tomato, olive oil and basil

Corn kernels sautéed with red onion, pul Biber, and thyme, tossed with a little feta and mint. (εσκιτεσ?)

A Tuesday dinner that made it feel like Saturday night: Shrimp and grits, nicely loaded with cheese and bacon followed by strawberry/rhubarb crumble for dessert. Iced tea and riesling to drink.

So this is how dinner went:

school lunch once. do I have to eat it? It’s not on my list. So unfair! (This goes on for a while.)

No, you don’t have to eat it, but then you can’t have dessert.

takes small bite. Tells other kid: it’s not disgusting. Actually it’s really good. It almost tastes like chips. Can zucchini go on my list? It’s better than the school lunch zucchini.

mr. B: that’s probably not a gesture you should be teaching the kids…
