Wilfrid
Hopefully nothing will happen this year to make this a long thread. But I was just watching David Byrne performing “This is a Life” with Mitski. Earlier today I walked by CBGBs (okay, John Varvatos). It’s rare I quote the Grateful Dead, but what a long, strange trip it’s been.
Wilfrid
A 100 year tribute to Warner Bros without Bugs Bunny?
small h
Am I the only person on earth who didn’t think Everything Everywhere was all that? Women Talking! Fucking finally.
Wilfrid
Only nominated movie I’d seen was EO. Unless you count the Lew Ayres version of All Quiet….
small h
Only ones I haven't seen are Elvis, All Quiet and Avatar. And of the ones I've seen, I thought Women Talking was the best. Everything Everywhere was good too, but very flashy and (according to me, but not some other people I know) not very affecting, story-wise. Fabelmans was very Oscar-y, but also very Spielberg-y, and I think he's out of fashion. I liked Triangle a lot - not as much as Force Majeure, though - but it probably lost because there was A LOT of gratuitous vomiting. Banshees is a small movie, and we have to wait a few more years for one of those, 'cause Nomadland just won two years ago. Don't get me started on Top Gun.

Which is interesting, because it's the only part of the show I watched.
Wilfrid
I'd like to see Banshees because I enjoy those two actors working together.
small h
Everyone is great in that film. And it is not at all predictable, at least not by me.
