Three years since lockdown: What has changed?

I am so glad Sig Eater has gone back to the office every day except alternate Fridays! She often says she's the only one there, and it allows her to get a lot of shit done.

Then again, working from home, on a dining table in a one-bedroom apartment, isn't exactly ideal - even if one has 3 meals a day prepared for them.

Yes, everyone's situation is different. Someone I work with with the same role as me goes to the office every day because her husband is home and has kids running around. She needs to be in the office to be productive. I have a separate room with a TV, Peloton bike, desk and fast wifi. Going to the office provides zero benefit to me.

I have been acutely aware that we were approaching the third anniversary of New York City shutting down. It's almost impossible to believe three years have passed -- and that made me start reflecting

Just finished up my second bout of Covid.  Pretty quickly thanks to Paxlovid.  I go out some but am wearing a mask more now than in the past year.  Nothing like some Covid to make you embrace mask wea

i wear a mask whenever i feel it is needed, like public transportation, crowded indoor and outdoor spaces, in hospitals and drs offices or anywhere else that feels risky or if i have a cold or cough.

I go into the office two days a week. Most of our meetings are hybrid and the only times my entire team is together is when we hold off-site retreats. It's been really interesting trying to figure out how manage hybrid board meetings - some of the spaces we use are better equipped than others. And we finally starting holding in person events in the fall - although we cancelled our two holiday parties due the triple-demic.

We have a massive gala coming up at the end of April and we're being very careful about keeping the numbers lower than the space can handle because we don't want it being a super-spreader event.

I certainly know people who have moved out of the city because having two people working from home in a modest NYC apartment just wasn’t viable long term.

This is where I'm grateful to be in a suburban house with a yard.  I think N and I would have killed each other if we'd been stuck in our Queens place day after day after day.

My husband has worked from home for 25+ years so I basically invaded his home office and when we had to make room for my set-up. The real stressor was during the first 3.5 months when we also had to deal with the child and Zoom school since he in kindergarten at the time and we really had to manage his schedule and log-ins.

I have another entry for the list.

I was wandering around midtown yesterday, dodging the bonnets, when I realized I don't go into clothes stores much any more. I used to really like shopping for clothes; many lunchtimes spent in Saks or Macy's or fancy places along Fifth Avenue.

That stopped. I have never worn out clothes quickly, but remote work means that (nice) clothes get very little wear. I suspect my current wardrobe could see me out with no further additions (yes, socks and underwear, but you know what I mean).

So many brick-and-mortar retail stores that used to be my mainstays have closed around here.  I'm thinking of the Uniqlo and DSW in Union Square right off the top of my head.

I realize that I haven't delved more than 3 inches into my closet.    Jeans, favorite half dozen sweaters and Ts have become uniform.    I don't own any sweats.

Delighted a teen relative with my Easter costume.    Snake jeans and satin tunic.    Something I also loved some 10 years ago.
