I have so much produce in my crisper that I almost can't close it.

And that's not counting all the stuff that doesn't get refrigerated.

It's hard to believe that in a few months there'll be like nothing.

Hey I've got an idea!

Let's have a big harvest festival and pretend it's the anniversary of when the world was created!

Oh wait, somebody already thought of that.

(And then a week later you can have a day where you bum yourself out over what a horrible person you've been, but if you get bummed enough all your defalcations melt away.)  (These ideas might really have staying power!)

we were able to get some matsutake mushrooms and those are for part of tomorrow night’s dinner: matsutake gohan. technically this purchase was at the mushroom vendor inside the sf ferry building. it’s something i look forward to every autumn, even more than tomatoes. 

today: black cod, chard, tomatoes, carrots, potatoes, green beans, pluots, melon, plums, herbs and onions.

My supermarket has started stocking these Asian-market Lay's potato chips and some of them are like insane!

I read somewhere that the reason Asian-market potato chips are suddenly available in New York is that pot has been legalized.

It makes a lot of sense.

But I'm doing it a good job of craving them on life.

I've only ever had them in Rancho Mirage.  So in my mind I think of them as this fish that lives in the desert sand.

I know that isn't the case.

I love Kalbee chips. They are addictive. Whenever I go to Japan, I binge on the mentaiko version. Thankfully, my  local Japanese market doesn't carry that version. Plenty of others. But I can pass those up.
