bloviatrix Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 Love this time of year at the market. Picked up some sugar plums, nectarines, blueberries, and lots of veg at 97th Street. Can't wait to snack on fruit. Quote
small h Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 Very good haul today. I had to hold myself back. 1 Quote
small h Posted July 13, 2024 Posted July 13, 2024 Oysters. Scallops not pictured, 'cause who wants to see a bag of raw scallops? Ew. Quote
Diancecht Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 we bought some mozzarella today at this cheese vendor at the ferry building farmer’s market and some crunchy cabbage kimchi onions, tomatoes, herbs, cauliflower, zucchini, peaches, melon, lettuces, string beans, swordfish Quote
StephanieL Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 I was at the market last week and was very tempted to get the ricotta from that stand, but I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it, just cooking for myself. Let us know what you think of the mozzarella. Quote
Diancecht Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 i think you can get much better from a store like cowgirl creamery or molinari’s there is one “ball” left which we’ll use for insalata caprese tonight. 1 Quote
bloviatrix Posted September 1, 2024 Posted September 1, 2024 Terhune had both mirabelles and greengage plums yesterday so I bought a kilo of the later to make preserves. Quote
Sneakeater Posted September 1, 2024 Author Posted September 1, 2024 (edited) I went to some medical procedure a couple of weeks ago and the nurse was like "OMG there's blood all over your lips and beard" and I was like "no that was a very ripe plumcot". StephanieL Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 (edited) We visited the big Marin Farmer's Market in San Rafael for the first time yesterday. Allegedly the 3rd largest farmer's market in California, it certainly ranks right up there in size with the one I went to in Paris years ago. We were actually planning to go to the monthly antiques French Market, thinking "Oh, we'll just pop in the farmer's market"--no way would we have had the capacity to handle both. Market haul: Japanese eggplant, delicata squash, and a lamb shoulder chop for dinner; apples and grapes; Nilgiri tea; pita; a small bottle of cherry mead; bialys from Wise Sons; and a mushroom-stuffed pretzel ball for a snack. sourbroughten Posted April 25, 2025 Posted April 25, 2025 Fine, I'll say it. RAAAAMMMMPPPPSSSS! 1 Quote
Wilfrid Posted April 26, 2025 Posted April 26, 2025 RAAAAMMMMPPPPSSSS seem reasonably priced at $6 a bunch. Not like eggs. A bunch of eggs is "expensive." Quote
small h Posted April 26, 2025 Posted April 26, 2025 I got ramps for $5 a couple of weeks ago ($6 seems reasonable also), and Quattro Game Farm had eggs for $7.50. Quote
Wilfrid Posted April 26, 2025 Posted April 26, 2025 $7.50 for an egg. That's like $15 for an omelette. End of the world.* I forgot to look for fiddleheads. Anyone seen them yet? *Satire. Quote
small h Posted April 26, 2025 Posted April 26, 2025 No, nor asparagus, although there were asparagus pix on their IG. Quote
small h Posted April 26, 2025 Posted April 26, 2025 $15 for an ostrich egg probably gets you three omelets. Bargain! Quote
