mongo Posted October 16, 2025 Posted October 16, 2025 should be by a line from penn station and within (relatively) easy reach of either the whitney or the met--say no more than a 20 minute walk away. for lunch. please advise. Quote
mongo Posted October 16, 2025 Author Posted October 16, 2025 or just by penn station, i suppose. this is for the purpose of a quick bite on arrival in the city before heading to one or the other museum. oh yes, on a saturday. Quote
backyardchef Posted October 16, 2025 Posted October 16, 2025 People swear by Pizza Suprema. Not my personal fave, but a moment's walk from Penn. https://nypizzasuprema.com/ 1 Quote
Orik Posted October 16, 2025 Posted October 16, 2025 L'Industrie is 15 minutes from The Whitney. Also there's a pizza place (Filaga?) in Chelsea Market which people like, although I haven't tried it. 1 Quote
GerryOlds2TheReturnofGerry Posted October 16, 2025 Posted October 16, 2025 (edited) I almost always stop into Pizza Suprema when traveling through Penn Station. It's a really solid neighborhood slice in a very high-traffic area. Second L'Industrie but also Mama's Too around the corner. I think both are worth visiting. They're prone to long lines, but apparently, the trick is to order for pickup via the apps to avoid waiting. (Don't quote me on that...I'd look into it first.) mongo Posted October 17, 2025 Author Posted October 17, 2025 thanks all, for the recs. we really enjoyed the pizza at mama's too when we were in the city with the boys in 2019--the rest of the experience? not so much. Quote
MitchW Posted October 17, 2025 Posted October 17, 2025 I gotta agree with L'Industrie and Mama's. But don't forget Joe's, at 7 Carmine/6th Ave. 1 Quote

Terrific crust and tasty tops, both the margherita and the sausage&shishito (nice twist on the original). I'd be happy to try other foods for you -- but this time was a free, introductory offer. In future there will be a fee. 1 Quote
small h Posted November 1, 2025 Posted November 1, 2025 And when you get bored with "regular" pizza, there's Cuts & Slices. For all your oxtail, jerk salmon and (pictured) shrimp & lobster alfredo with truffles pizza needs. We went last night before seeing some old people play guitars at Parkside. I thought the topping was impressive - shrimp perfectly cooked, light sauce, not over-salted or over-greased. But the crust is toasted focaccia texture, not my favorite. H had the pepperoni and thought it was okay, sauce too sweet. The staff is fantastic, so welcoming and warm (granted, there were also a lot of cute costumed kids wandering in and out). And the music is really good, too! Quote
