Haven't made grape jelly in several years so it's on the docket for the weekend. Have you ever made grape ice cream, sorbet, or sherbet?

voyager
When I was about 5, I used to sneak next door to my aunt's house for her Grape Kool Aid sherbet. As I remember it was just Kool Aid mix, sugar and condensed milk. I thought it was nirvana. Then.

That sounds great - and I'll bet a similar sherbet would be wonderful as well. Last night I had a delicious peach gelato, at Il Laboratorio. Fruit ice creams aren't necessarily my favorites, but this one was spot on.

Today, I got Jonagolds from the same vendor, as well as a new-to-me variety, Belle de Boskoop. The latter have a really great tartness to them.
Sneakeater
This morning, the grape vendor, whom I haven't seen since last Fall, waved to me and called out as I walked by. "I'm sorry," I said. "I'm just not ready for you yet." "I know what you mean," he said.

mitchells
Without any supporting data, I am proclaiming 2022 the best (local CT) peach season of my lifetime. Just about every peach I've had this season has been exceptional.
small h
I don’t know about best, but definitely as good as season any I remember.
Sneakeater
We are entering into a depressing "end of Summer" phase (you can see the tomatoes deteriorating). Although the hot chili selection is restorative.
Wilfrid
I realize I didn’t do my usual once-a-year heirloom tomato dish. For most of my life I avoided tomatoes altogether and still find them challenging; but the range of flavors and textures in the heirlooms make them worth it.
Diancecht
notable since the only time i remember seeing any mention of guinea fowl was at the now closed branch of golden gate meat company at the ferry building. if you manage to get to the sf ferry building farmer’s market or fatted calf, we’ve been spoiled by root down farm’s chickens. worth taking a look at.
