Sneakeater
Tomorrow morning's question: will I be able to resist shelling out for one last portion of this season's bay scallops?
Sneakeater
The GAP Greenmarket was almost bereft of vendors today. But you can bet Holy Schmitt was there.
small h
I still have a piece of horseradish root from last year. Best $2 I ever spent.

Sneakeater
I personally am oddly having nothing that requires horseradish.

Diancecht
fava beans and peas are a month away so some things will have to wait. today we bought: whole chicken, bacon, castelfranco radicchio, mint, cilantro, chives, parsley, mesclun, arugula, radishes, spring onions, carrots, potatoes, leeks, asparagus, strawberries, mustard greens, stinging nettles, ricotta cheese, scallion cream cheese and a couple of bagels. the pictures are from devil’s gulch ranch. their stuff is pricey and very good. we’ve started to explore their wares because they’re more interesting than what fatted calf offers. small h
So guess who finally dragged herself out of bed early to get to Tompkins Square and look for ramps and shad, only to find no ramps and no shad - no fish guy at all, ‘cause he called out today. Now guess who cheered herself up with an egg cream and then stopped into Union Market because what the hell. And Union Market had ramps! It’s been a roller coaster morning. voyager
And the jury: Very disappointing. Despite the vibrant color, there was indistinguishable flavor. Could have been spinach and kiss of green onion. Or... They need to ramp up the ramps.
