small h
I think Johnny's is the only one I've been to, and it was way more than three years ago. My Bronx friend is recommending Crab Shanty.
joethefoodie
I was a fan of Sammy's on our two visits...https://www.sammysfishbox.com/our-menu/
small h
Yes, that's been recommended by Bronx Friend as well. Decisions!

One thing I definitely remember about Sammy's was the "relish" tray they put on the table, along with their bread basket. They were both humongous.

Maybe relish trays are thick on the ground there! But that's a "pro" in the Sammy's column.

Gotta have something to help soak up that first Martini.
Seth Gordon
My own Bronx Friend is fond of City Island Lobster House, but he also concedes that there’s probably not a huge quality difference between steamed lobsters up there, at least at the places that have been cranking them out for years. So all things being semi-equal if the weather’s as nice as it was today I’d probably go with whoever has waterside-ish tables. Which I think would narrow it down to Sea Shore, Tony’s, and Johnny’s. Sneakeater
Isn't that kind of like wild cows?
StephanieL
Wasn't tilapia a wild fish at some point?
Sneakeater
I think it's wild off the coast of Africa or something. But not near here.
small h
Sammy's Fish Box. What you see before you cost $29.95. I think we may have traveled back in time? The lobster was good, if a little over-steamed. The other stuff was as you'd expect, and exactly what I wanted, including the weird yellow rice and the flabby-skinned baked potato. I did not eat the corn, because that was a bridge too far. Thanks for the advice, all!
