Popular Post Scorched Palate
I thought it would be cool to have a thread -- akin to the Breakfast and Supper threads -- where we talk about the trips we've booked that we're looking forward to taking. Cameron and I are going to Seattle (our 'other hometown') in October for a long weekend. Then in late December/early January, we're going to Thailand for 19 days on one of Kasma Loha-unchit's culinary tours. We've put off this trip for at least 3 years (it's been so long, we've actually forgotten when we originally said we'd go), so we're really looking forward to it. We also have a 3-night stopover in Tokyo on the way to Bangkok, which we're in the process of planning. How 'bout you? What's in your "upcoming itineraries" folder? ~A

omnivorette
Okay, serious now. We're up here in upstate NY for a few days. We'll do this again in early August, and then we'll be up here for 8 days at the end of August through Labor Day. We'll probably come up a few times in the fall and winter, go skiing at Stratton now and then. In October I will make my yearly visit to Colorado, to visit my best friend from college. In December, Eyebrows and I are planning on going to Belize for a week to 10 days, I will do a lot of scuba diving and Eyebrows will dive for the first time! February will bring us back to Switzerland, where I will go to ski school in Lenzerheide, plus we'll be in Zurich, and back to the Waldhaus in Sils Maria, and probably we'll visit our friends in Varese (northern Italy). May will involve some kind of trip. I'm thinking either Madrid or Buenos Aires. Hard choice for me. I have close friends in Madrid, which is one factor. But my re-entry into the world of latin dance makes Argentina very appealing. That's about as far as we go at this point. ................................ There, that should give you folks plenty to focus on over there. Have a ball.
Lippy
We'll have a long weekend in the Berkshires next month. In June, we will be spending a week in the Bay Area. In between, there will be something, but I don't know what.
TheMatt
Well, I'm gonna buy Harry Potter tomorrow. Um...other than that, haven't been on a pleasure trip since 2000. Went to a conference last year, though.

tanabutler
Before the end of the year, I am taking a road trip south (Paso Robles, Ojai/Santa Barbara area, Pasadena, then maybe Long Beach and San Diego) for a bunch of reasons (visiting farms being primary, but also to visit Chef Zadi's family and the culinary academy where he teaches). I will also be going to Georgia, as both of my youngest sisters are having sons. I also hope to return to New York City and visit friends, and go back to Dévi and Blue Hill Stone Barns before the year is out. I also hope to visit Napa again, but I'm not going this month. Too damn hot!
foodie52
IACP conference - Food Without Borders - in Oxford toward the end of August. Australia for the entire month of October! We've been planning this for 3 years: Melbourne, Adelaide, Kangaroo Island and Coober Pedy. There's a big food fest in Adelaide the last two weekends of October. I've signed us up for two seminars: Australian Olive Oil tasting and blending, and an Australian cheese class. I'm cashing in the stock that I've held on to for sentimental reasons for 20 years to pay for it. After having had two friends die last year without realizing their dreams, the "you can't take it with you" has hit home hard.
Daisy
I want to, am planning to, go hiking in the Alps in August--have not yet decided on French or Italian side. Stone, my brother went to Iceland and adored it. Among other things, the nightclubs never close. Right now I am going to go have a BIG cocktail. Still at work on a Friday in July at 7:30. And a very annoying day in general.
little ms foodie
Great thread Anita! I just purchased our tickets today for New Orleans in September with another couple. In November we will be traveling with friends to Willamette Valley, OR for our annual Pinot Noir wine tasting trip. And we are in the midst of planning a trip to Paris and St Petersberg over Christmas/New Years.

fentona
Two weeks from today, I'm moving to Rome for a year. I'll travel around Italy when I get the chance; other than that, next up is a few days in Tunisia in mid-October.
