So, where are *you* going next?

We're going to Toronto for Passover. Driving up on Sunday. The way the calendar falls out there won't be much time do fun things although I'm hoping to catch the Leafs-Hurricanes game on Thursday night.

I thought it would be cool to have a thread -- akin to the Breakfast and Supper threads -- where we talk about the trips we've booked that we're looking forward to taking.   Cameron and I are going

Excellent!   False modesty will get you nowhere on this board. A Latin scholar spending a year doing research in Rome, eh? I look forward to your posts. By the way, when the woman said the pigs w

I hope you'll be sending us occasional reports about life in Rome.

why are you wasting time, going to the game, when you could look for something fun to do?

You're kidding right? I'm always happy to watch a hockey game, even if it's not my team playing.

I assume we'll hit the AGO and maybe take the kids (children of the friends we're staying with) to the Ontario Science Centre which is a ton of fun.

Just got back from 6 days on St John in the US Virgin Islands. Great place to escape rough spring weather. Great snorkeling, nice beaches, and fairly aggressive hikes if you want them. Not a food destination but we ate simply and reasonably well.

Back to San Francisco this Friday for another conference (International Association of Culinary Professionals this time). Already set to eat at Atelier Crenn, Bar Tartine, and Incanto (to make up for the conference food, which is usually not very good). Nice long trip this time, not leaving until Wednesday night, so I hope to do lots more walking around than I got to do in January.

Just booked a June trip. My sister and I are taking our niece in dual celebration of her 18th birthday and high school graduation. Two nights in Athens, seven days on a ship with stops at Mykonos, Santorini, Rhodes, Chios and Ephesus, then four nights in Istanbul.

Amsterdam is 20 minutes from "Norwich International Airport"* and the newly renovated Reichsmuseum sounds like a treat.

*Amsterdam is the only international destination.

I hope you meant Rijksmuseum.

My 87 year old mother invited me to cruise with her. How could I say no? April 20 to May 2, visiting Cittavecchia, Costanza, Mykonos, Pireaus, Istanbul, Izmir, Yalta and Odessa. Yeah, it's only one day in each port, but I'll get off the ship and take the tours. Hopefully I can do some wandering on my own, too.
