small h Posted February 29, 2024 Author Posted February 29, 2024 Aquabest has them pretty regularly, but I think they're from the west coast. Quote

Sneakeater Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 I've had them in my apartment! YUM! (And you hardly have to DO anything to them!) Quote

small h Posted February 29, 2024 Author Posted February 29, 2024 Very possible. I should make it a point to ask next time I'm there. Quote
voyager Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 My back was shot today, so husband manned the stove. -> Philly cheesesteaks. Perfect. Several orders of magnitude better than Pat's and a couple of others in Philly. Quote
Wilfrid Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 I was going to photograph my At the Wallace cheeseburger (make it a double) transferred to my low carb bun but I ate it and forgot. Next time. Quote
StephanieL Posted March 4, 2024 Posted March 4, 2024 (edited) As a tribute to Dave Myers of Hairy Bikers fame, who passed away a few days ago from cancer, N is making the potato-topped spicy bean hot pot from The Hairy Bikers' Perfect Pies. It uses a combination of kidney and cannelini beans, so she's using RG Domingo Rojos and Marcellas. A warming meal for today and the next few cold rainy days. Edited March 4, 2024 by StephanieL Quote
Wilfrid Posted March 7, 2024 Posted March 7, 2024 My daughter showed up with lunch this afternoon. Since I start my day a little earlier than her, I had already eaten lunch. So this was dinner and it was about a third of the mountain of chicharrones from a cuchifrito counter in the Bronx. I have two more suppers like this in the freezer now. #porkfat 1 Quote
small h Posted March 9, 2024 Author Posted March 9, 2024 Pizza! is always a good idea. Joe Beddia dough recipe, one marinara with mozz, asiago and parm, and a fresh tomato, mozz and mushroom. 1 Quote
MitchW Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 First night cooking at home in almost a week! Mise. Stir-fried pork with asparagus, carrots and onions, in a Cantonese style. Quote
StephanieL Posted March 10, 2024 Posted March 10, 2024 Tonight's dinner will be quiche, featuring broccoli, cauliflower, and Egyptian walking onions from our garden. We'll probably have a side salad with lettuces and such from the garden too. 1 Quote
Diancecht Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 guajillo braised beef short rib tacos, with lazy salsa, guajillo chile salsa, cumin-lime crema, pickled onions, iceberg lettuce, radishes and cilantro frozen margaritas chocolate ice cream 2 Quote
Diancecht Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 (edited) our guests demolished our spread. i guess that means we’ll be doing more tacos in the future. 😍 the short ribs were seared on all sides in canola oil, then oven braised in a sauce consisting of guajillo chiles, chipotle chiles, onion, garlic, water, cumin, salt, pepper, mexican oregano and modelo negra for four hours. i reduced some of the chiles because hubby is sensitive to heat, but i suppose i needn’t have worried. maison rustique Posted March 16, 2024 Posted March 16, 2024 A friend now regularly gifts food to me. He brought me some red pepper soup he made. I garnished with micro arugula and crumbled bacon. Had it with Wheat Thins and pinot grigio. A warm scone (from a local Irish place) with TJ's cultured butter from Brittany and whipped cream (no clotted cream, so I did my best) was dessert. 1 Quote
StephanieL Posted March 18, 2024 Posted March 18, 2024 (edited) N used packaged puff pastry to make a freeform tart with chard (from our garden), feta, and lightly baked eggs. Edited March 18, 2024 by StephanieL 1 Quote
voyager Posted March 20, 2024 Posted March 20, 2024 Staying longer than planned in the country since weather is superb. Blue sky, no wind, mid-70s. But ran out of fresh proteins. So...Spam hash. Hey, it's really rather good, but then I've never met a hash I didn't like. 1 Quote
voyager Posted March 21, 2024 Posted March 21, 2024 Continuing the first world problem rant, supper last night was spam eggs Benedict. Again, quite acceptable. Currently en route home to a more complete larder. Quote
bloviatrix Posted March 21, 2024 Posted March 21, 2024 Coincidentally, we went to see this last week. The boy loved it. 1 1 Quote
