I know he didn't write it, but my 11- or 12-year old self thought that joke about Jesus coming out of the cave and seeing his shadow was the funniest thing we'd ever heard that didn't involve farts.

I am down a YouTube rabbit hole, I probably haven’t watched any of their material for decades, but wow is their stuff good.

I loved them so much in the early-mid '60s.  As a boy, I thought they were hilarious.

As a so-called man, I still do, I mean.

I mean, I thought it was so cool that "Smothers" rhymed with "Brothers".

How did that even happen?

Tom Smothers, of course, is very freshly dead.

You can go down an endless rabbit hole of their old clips on YouTube. I had forgotten how good they were, but I think I can be forgiven as I was watching them as a child. How did they get sidelined by comedy history?

I completely agree.   I’m seeing stuff that’s just brilliant.

And to be clear, I really loved them back in the early ‘60s day, too.
