I didn't know they were still playing that.

From other clips, it looks like Ana has also suspended the regular bit where she lifts Carlotta on her shoulders. Can't blame her.

Obvious that “Hi” would be the new opener, but good to see “Riding Solo,” the old opener, is still in there.

And “Just Like Kids” is essential and central.

I don’t love “En Forma.”

If you are upfront at the end of the concert, the band peels a couple of setlists off the floor and hands them to fans.

When I saw them the band opened by screaming "We're fuckin Hinds and we're from fuckin Madrid!"

I see Warsaw Theatre is 1,100 patrons.  The Paramount where I saw the band is allegedly 400 but it was probably packed with 50 or so additional fans.

The opening act was The Happy Return, a friendly, standard issue indie band from San Diego.  Good, but no threat to R.E.M.

Interesting. They sold out the Williamsburg Hall of Music (650) and two nights at Baby's All Right (280 per night), so Warsaw is ambitious. They generally seem to be selling out, but indeed, venue size is relevant.

Dammitall, New York is their last concert of 2024. First of 2025? Barcelona at that fascinating old concert hall I photographed a few weeks ago.

Am I tempted? That would be an understatement. Even if I end up not going, the first thing is to buy a ticket…

Can I afford the trip? Yes. Will I remember it forever? Yes. Will it give me leverage to get a back stage pass? It should.

Please feel free to talk me out of it.

It’s about seeing the best band in the world in the second best city in the world and in (what Ana says is*) their own country.

*I decided not to tell Ana it’s not her country, it’s Catalunya, because why pick a fight with her?

Also I was amazed there’s an Apolo theater there before I ever imagined Hinds would play it.

I think I will do this but I will decide in the morning rather than at midnight after four hours of New York sports and a bottle of cheap rose.

Cheaper than Beaucastel for sure!
