Tamar G
I am obsessively checking the women's figure skating results here. I don't care, but some how I really do, or I wouldn't be refreshing the page every 7 minutes. Just the last 6 to go . . . I'm abashed to admit that I am doing the same, but primarily because I won't be able to watch the NBC broadcast later in the evening. The updates seem to go so slowly... Can't those girls skate faster? The updates are pretty quick within each 6 person group, but there is, of course, a much longer wait between the groups as the zamboni does it's thing, and then the group practices, etc.
lovelynugget
I'm kinda rooting for Slutskaya. That poor girl deserves a little good news.
Tamar G
uh- you might want to put a spoiler note on that because some people might want to wait for tonight's coverage.
lovelynugget
uh- you might want to put a spoiler note on that because some people might want to wait for tonight's coverage. Good point. I will endeavor to be more discreet, though I'm just speculating of course. I don't actually know what's happening.
mongo_jones
I'm kinda rooting for Slutskaya. That poor girl deserves a little good news. how can you not root for someone named for slutskaya? unless, of course, she's competing with hoebagovich.

lovelynugget
I'm enjoying this new scoring system with the figure skating. More transparency and less of a feeling that the 'fix' is in. It also focuses more on the performance of the moment rather than reputation and popularity.
lovelynugget
Whoa!! Wasn't expecting that finish.
Wilfrid1
I gather Sasha fell over a couple of times. I hope she is not bruised.
lovelynugget
Strange to think that you can crash twice and still win the silver medal... Are there any other events where this can happen?
yvonne johnson
Strange to think that you can crash twice and still win the silver medal... Are there any other events where this can happen? Her short prgram the other night was so spectacular. I say that not being that into figure skating.
lovelynugget
Sorry, I'm rather unmoved. Not Sasha's fault, mind, but there's an empty hole inside from when Michelle Kwan dropped out. Couldn't work up much enthusiasm for that ferret-faced Emily Hughes. ****SPOILER ALERT**** Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the 10K m speedskating results are in. Love watching an arrogant loudmouth fall short.
Tamar G
Couldn't work up much enthusiasm for that ferret-faced Emily Hughes. Maybe we could rate the merits of female athletes on their abilities and sportsmanship and not on their facial features. We are talking about the olympics, after all, not FHM. Thanks.
