bloviatrix
I learned a neat bit of trivia - Cabrera's cycle was the first hit by a Yankee since Tony Fernandez in '95. The last three Yankees prior to Fernandez to hit for the cycle all played centerfield - Murcer, Mantle, and DiMaggio. I'm going to the game versus the Red Sox on Thursday night. Let's hope they break the losing cycle against beantown.
Wilfrid1
This is a teeth-grinding night, isn't it? Two great pitchers. Only disappointment is the impressionistic home place umpiring, which is not as good as the pitchers deserve.
beachfan
ARod shows up in the 15th and wins the game!
Wilfrid1
That was truly exhausting. And it's not like I was playing. An honorable draw would have been a fair result. I'll happily take the win, but it was a matter of waiting them out until they had to send up their last available pitcher, in his first major league start, and have him deal with the heart of the Yankees order. Finally, it was no longer an even contest. Up to that point, great pitching - even though Bruney did load a couple of bases, then leave one over the plate which the hitter, for once, failed to handle.
Wilfrid1
Of course, today is not a draw in any sense. I think we have had a number of teachable moments over the past couple of days.
Liza
Gotta love two straight shut-out days. A shout out to the elementary school boys playing running bases and keeping tabs on the score.
Shrike
Gotta love two straight shut-out days. A shout out to the elementary school boys playing running bases and keeping tabs on the score. I'm still tired from being there for the entire game Fri. but I'm very glad I stayed. I notice Paul Simon made it back for todays game.

The guy's a die hard Yankees fan (we've seen him there on numerous occasions).
Wilfrid1
My upstairs neighbors from the late '90s were enjoying the game today - Hawn and Russell, daughter Hudson and some guy or other. This felt like some kind of triple-header. I slept in a little today, got up and did some stuff and.... okay, we're playing again.

Okay... you're now officially over that "across the pond" thing and are now a New Yawker. Congratulations! (& condolences to the family)
Wilfrid1
I thought living downstairs from Kurt and Goldie back in the '90s was sufficient.
Miguel Gierbolini
What can I say? Ortiz missed his "vitamins."
Wilfrid1
I don't think Boston have many options right now, but you wonder how long they can keep sending up a DH pitchers are pleased to see and expect to beat.
Robert Brown
Why isn't David Ortiz taking the legal supplements he said he was in taking in 2003 when he hit 31 homers and batted .288?
