Liza
And wouldn't you think that Torre would be lot more on top of an injury like Schilling's? Last I heard, the ankle injury has been back-dated to his last regular season game against the Yanks. Seems to me he has pitched since then, tho...
Liza
May I just say that the Red Sox have just about the worst set of facial hair offenses of any team.
Rail Paul
The Sox might want to have a sip of Moxie after the wreckage of the past few days. here's an article about the regional drink of New England, it's the second one down. Moxie
StephanieL
I really enjoyed that whole article. I want to make that recipe for Derby Pie.
Wilfrid1
Pesky game 5. How tedious. I think the Red Sox fans might justifiably be angry with the management being either clueless or devious about the state of Schilling. Plan A was clearly to have Schilling, wrecked ankle and all, start twice and win twice. Unfortunately for the Red Sox, that seems to have been Plans B thru Z too. Did Torre ask too much of Rivera last night?
Liza
Schilling is supposed to be pitching tomorrow (however unlikely that is), when what he really should do is have surgery to repair his ankle.
Wilfrid1
In the unlikely event that anyone will be pitching tomorrow, I would encourage the Red Sox to consider sending out a starter with two legs. Otherwise, it could get embarrassing.
Melonious Thunk
The NYT had an ill-advised headline over the story about last night's Red Sox win: "Yankees choke on their own medicine. said the headine. "Choke" is not a word I would use to describe the Yankees in any way. This writer will probably be in for a hot time the next visit to the locker room.
mitchells
Did Torre ask too much of Rivera last night? I think the continual 2 inning outing are wearing on Rivera. Unfortunately, Torre doesn't have much choice as he has very little confidence in the other guys. Last night, at about 1:20 am, I told me wife when Quantrill came in to face Ramirez and Ortiz that we'd be able to go to sleep soon.
Wilfrid1
I had the same feeling about Quantrill. I should have thought Sturtze could have got another out or two before Rivera was called on.

Stone
Today was the ultimate proof that baseball is the greatest game ever devised by the human mind. Do you believe those two games? Dude. Doesn't hold a candle to football. Just doesn't. Let's see Mariano throw a strike with Ray Lewis running full speed at his head. Great games nonetheless. But lets not lose perspective.
