But will he start unloading the dish drainer and putting his laundry away? Because that would be GREAT. We are not Scandinavian. Everything we own need not be visible at all times.

Let me know when I can expect that to happen.

I finally finished packing the boy up for camp! The bags get picked up tomorrow. And leaves on Wednesday.

Meanwhile he celebrates his birthday tomorrow. My baby is growing up.

Not quite sure this fits in this category, but I'll go for it. After much whining and complaining to everyone, including the doctor, about my hip pain with him shrugging it off as merely being arthritis, I finally put my foot down with him yesterday. He did a couple of quick x-rays in the office and said, "Oh! Your hip is a mess! That's gonna have to be replaced. And your spine is not good!"

Me: "Well, what did you think I kept trying to tell you!!!!!

Anyway, I'm being referred to an orthopedist. Both hips are actually bad, but left is kaput. As far as I know, they have not developed spine replacements yet. And he is trying to get my colonoscopy and EGD bumped up on the calendar and a CT scan is ordered. I will be so happy to finally get something happening and get my life back!

I'm so tired of fighting with doctors about symptoms and being told it's imaginary because i'm an older woman who must want attention. I walked around for a year with a hacking cough and shortness of breath being told by several docs it's allergies just take Zyrtec and lose 20lbs.  Turns out it was pneumonia (probably not when first reported) and pretty bad asthma.

The good news is I found a new pulmonologist who listens and offers treatment. So important to stop worrying about being called a complainer and demand people do their actual jobs.

Amen, Sister!    When I had my first chest pains (now called panic attacks), I asked my md if they were possibly stress related, psychosomatic, etc.    He stated emphatically that he didn't believe in that.    Oooooookay.

I remember the last x-ray I took before my hip replacement. “Your hip is trashed,” my physician remarked, although anyone could see that.

He had been discounselling surgery only because it would be elective and any surgery of that scope is dangerous. He liked to say, “Your hip won’t kill you.”

But it was time. @maison rustique Look forward to some pain relief down the road.

I spent three months in useless PT for my back until I finally demanded an MRI. Lo, I had a cyst on my spine, which PT was clearly not the appropriate treatment for. I am very flexible, so that fact that I could put my palms flat on the floor was enough to convince several doctors that there was nothing wrong with me that massage and exercises couldn't fix.

Welcome to the kaput left hip club! I've had mine replaced twice, so if you have any questions, I have answers. Or at least educated guesses.

Two days of perfect weather (so far) and right now I have windows open and the gentlest breeze blowing through my spectacularly clean apartment (crazy deep clean discount on Handy) and all is good.

Won’t last, I know.

Cheerful or annoyance?

Weather forecasts all week had Saturday a chance of showers, Sunday maybe a washout. I was monitoring closely because the weekend was the close of Harlem Week with two large outdoor events.

Saturday, gray and drizzle, not many people out. Today, wholly unexpected, blazing sunshine and it was beautiful. As I am writing now on Sunday evening, a massive thunderstorm. How much time did I waste on forecasts instead of just looking out the window?

The 50th anniversary Harlem Day event thank god was joyous, as was last Sunday’s Great Day event in front of the Grant monument.
