Reasons to be Cheerful

Recommended Posts

Am reminded of a cheeky desk clerk in Paris.    I asked him to check the latest weather forecast for me and he refused.  "Non?  Non?"  "After I check for you, Madam, you will know no more than you do now!"

Went to Fenway years ago as part of an outing associated with my sister's graduation from Boston University.  We were in the bleachers, it was so chilly that we were drinking hot chocolate, and I still managed to get badly burned on my face.  The supreme irony is that it was Skin Cancer Awareness Day at the ballpark and they had given out packets of sunscreen to fans.

At least the Sox lost to the Angels that day.

I think the only baseball stadium I've been to outside New York was the Kauffman Stadium (Kansas City; and yes, I had to look up the name).

Just the other day, I told people I had never been to Shea Stadium. This was true, but I completely forgot sitting in a box at MetLife a year or two ago, courtesy of Oracle.

Old or new Comiskey? I've been to the "new" one. In '96, vs. McGwire's Oakland A's team.

Additionally been I've to -

Both versions of Yankee Stadium
Shea
CitiField
Fenway
Coors Field
Dolphins Stadium (Marlins)
Oakland
San Francisco
Toronto

We happened to be in Seattle in '01 during the ALCS and were able to get tix for game 6. Fortunately, the Yanks won the series in 5. (I attended two WS games that year)

Might be a strange place to post this. Not really cheerful, but thankful. My husband finally escaped the hell that is dementia. He passed this morning around 1:30. I'm so happy that he isn't suffering any more.

My condolences - may his memory be a blessing.

@maison rustique, My sincerest condolences.

I know exactly how you feel because that’s how I felt when they called to tell me my mother had died (in Jan. 2001). She had progressive supranuclear palsy. I was her major caretaker, and her final days were awful for her. I was glad that she was no longer suffering (she had actually signaled that she was ready to go) and felt huge relief for myself.
