bloviatrix Posted February 25, 2024 Posted February 25, 2024 I'm so thrilled for her - I know preparing for it is extremely time consuming and stressful. I hope you do something to celebrate. 1 Quote

Wilfrid Posted March 4, 2024 Author Posted March 4, 2024 Yesterday was the perfect day to be blessed with extraordinary weather. I had brunch with a friend in Long Island, outdoors on a patio watching ducks on the lake. Then a browse through the Nassau Museum of Art and a wander around its outdoor sculpture gardens. The grass was a little too soggy to tackle the nature trails. I didn't need my jacket. Imagine doing any of that the previous day, Saturday, with the cold, relentless rain. 1 Quote
bloviatrix Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 It's a lovely small museum. The grounds are great. Quote
Wilfrid Posted March 5, 2024 Author Posted March 5, 2024 New to me. Lovely exhibit on “The Gilded Age,” and I had not realized the extent of Louis Comfort Tiffany’s work as an artist, not a piece of glass in sight. Quote
bloviatrix Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 Played tennis this morning for the first time in forever. I'm going to be so sore tomorrow but it felt great to be out there. 3 Quote
Wilfrid Posted March 17, 2024 Author Posted March 17, 2024 But it’s okay, the sources of trauma resolved themselves, quick intervention with anti-inflammatories calmed my arthritis and I had a wonderful day with the new Himalayan artists at the Rubin and, improbably, a fantastic show about sleeves at FIT. Not that I went that often, but I miss it anyway, and I look forward to not going to the new one that often, but enjoying it when I do. Quote
Sneakeater Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 (edited) It took me a long time to convince myself I could eat raw shellfish in Penn Station and not die. But I could, it finally turned out. I never had such misgivings in Grand Central proper. But then, Grand Central proper isn't disgusting like Penn Station. Edited March 24, 2024 by Sneakeater Quote
Wilfrid Posted March 24, 2024 Author Posted March 24, 2024 That new Penn Station with its bars and dining options is a new Penn Station. Quote
Sneakeater Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 Yeah obvs I'm not talking about Moynihan. Quote
bloviatrix Posted March 25, 2024 Posted March 25, 2024 Kids went undefeated and won the March Madness Squirts C group championship in double OT. They played amazingly well and left everything out there on the ice. I'm so proud of all them. And the boy came thisclose to scoring his first goal of the season but ended up with the primary assist. 4 1 Quote

Wilfrid Posted April 10, 2024 Author Posted April 10, 2024 Because it’s something like 72F, walking out in a t-shirt and up to Washington Heights to Penny Jo’s, a cocktail bar with big, sunny windows, drinking my first Clover Club in many years, then wandering back down the hill finding many people so happy and smiling in the sunshine. 2 Quote
StephanieL Posted April 15, 2024 Posted April 15, 2024 Our favorite tiki bar hosted a Gosling's Black Seal Rum tasting, with Emily Gosling (8th-generation owner) running the show. We had 2 cocktails (N had mocktails) and tastings of 5 different Gosling's rums. Those of us who bought bottles were allowed to take home one of their RTD Dark & Stormy cans and taste a special blend that's only available at one particular hotel in Bermuda. 2 Quote
