Congratulations!

We're done with 3 of 4 sports for the 2 kids. The daughter just has tryouts for lacrosse for next year, but the son's club lacrosse is just ramping up.  I will have slept in my own bed one saturday night from 6/1 tp 7/15

I hope they're appreciative of what you do for them.

I've mentioned before that I feed all the wildlife and birds. I have had 2 smallish raccoons coming late afternoon/early evening to eat. I strongly suspected they are nursing mothers. Sure enough last night, one of them brought the babies. I almost hate it when they bring babies because they are so adorable to watch as the run around playing and exploring that I can hardly tear myself away from the windows. I could watch them for hours!

Make sure that your house has no secret entries for them.    Lizzie, whom many of you may remember from early food forums, had a family that regularly invaded her house through the doggie door.   They regularly ransacked the kitchen, opened sealed packages of cookies, etc and sampled or devoured any food left out.   She referred to them as the Gambini gang, and ridded them only by eliminating the door which inconvenienced their small dogs.

my mom had the same issue. walked into her kitchen one very early morning to a racoon family ransacking the cat food. They had gotten in through the cat door that someone had demagnitized.

Yes, all is secure. There is a doggie door in the basement that we have never used since we have no animals that go outdoors, so it is well-sealed off. And attic entries are secure--at least they were as of 2 months ago when I had the roof checked. I'm more concerned about snakes getting into the house than anything.

  • 2 weeks later...

My sister and BIL came in from Topeka yesterday to help me with some things. We got a lot packed up, some photos taken of furniture I want to sell, etc. I've been working on this for months, but it actually looks like something is happening now. I'm tired and aching, but happy to make progress. Bonus: They brought me home-grown tomatoes.

I have all the cable equipment disconnected and ready to turn in to Spectrum. I love Google Fiber!

I'm happy Madison Chock and Evan Bates got married.  I think all ice dancing partners should get married.  I think the world should more like a classically defined comedy:  in the end, everybody should marry each other.

Some Mouthfuls members, were they still here, would remember me singing that at in the karaoke part of a basement Chinatown buffet party. First time I met Sandy, Cathy and doubtless others.

It has been a plentiful year for raccoon babies or raccuties, as I call them. Last evening and night,  it was a steady stream of them--I think at least 5 different mamas and babes. It was incredibly hot even at night. I snapped this quickly around 10 pm as this mama was splooted out trying to cool down while her raccuties were playing and eating--2 kids shown, but I think there were 3.

Medium. She's still very anxious, and she's also spending the week alone (my dad is at a festival). But she sounds like she's holding it together pretty well and taking care of herself. Thanks for asking!

Just remember that he won't miraculously stop snoring after you marry him.

But will he start unloading the dish drainer and putting his laundry away? Because that would be GREAT. We are not Scandinavian. Everything we own need not be visible at all times.
