Which email program?

i suggested thunderbird only as a transfer vehicle. it can import outlook mail in windows and since a mac version exists of it the files can be transferred easily.   as for your mysterious troubles

Splinky, I'm glad to hear that your Time Capsule now seems to be working, as I bought one over misgivings based on your initial bad experience. I hoped to have more of the Dr. Johnson experience.

this reminds me, that i have to figure out where to store my music since i am getting a new time capsule soon. mine is just about full and recently i'm storing more photos and i have a sonos stereo system. i think i'm fine with just letting my photos back up in the regular course of things onto the time capsule, but not sure i want to continue to store music for the music system on my new time capsule. store it on an NAS drive or time capsule? that is the question.

If the only issue is drive capacity you can add external drives to the time capsule. Those drives can be used for backups or as NAS-style storage.

Do I not need to install AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy because they focus on Windows-targeted malware? Do I not need to install ANY security software?

I would get something. Apple computers are not immune to viruses. (just one of many similar articles)

I guess my question is, are all the standards mainly aimed at Windows viruses? Or do they pick up viruses aimed at OS X as well?

Software, antivirus or other, is written for particular Operating Systems, X or other.

It's entirely likely that companies that write software to block viruses (virii?) for

Windows machines will attempt to convince you that you need to buy a version

for OS X. I have not found it necessary.
