  1. Sadly back in Munich now. Was a great visit, not really food focused for the most part but we did make it to Txikito and it was superb. Apart from visiting what felt like every Sephora/Glossier/Ulta between 54th and Canal St., the biggest hit with the ladies was actually The Strand. 🥰
  2. Oh I think we can already do a cross Europe analysis. All equally overpriced! Broad agreement that international winner on value is Tokyu Hands. (Except for the flying over there part.)
  3. Yeah, I got that. Spanish also not so great here (which I find incredibly surprising given how often Germans vacation in Spain!)
  4. Thanks! How is Txikito?
  5. Thanks Mitch. 75% of us are US citizens and the rest know ESTA well. Teenagers want bagels, the costume institute and Ulta beauty, as well as lots of photos in front of the skyline. I’m taking them to The Strand as well, so long as it still exists. I’ve booked Roberta’s Penn for the first evening (pizza = safe) and was thinking about Ilili because Meze works for picky eaters. Also Russ and Daughter cafe, Chelsea Market, and if they’re willing to humor me the Grand Central oyster bar. i basically have three evening meals open and would love to try something new, that I can’t get in good quality back home. Especially Mexican/Indian or seafood* recommendations? (We were in Japan over Easter, so would exclude sushi)
  6. Hey, Behemoths are (first time in 10 years(!)) visiting NY in the first week of June. 1. If anyone has time and would be interested in meeting up send me a pm. 2. I’m not a complete stranger to the city but is there anything restaurant-wise we shouldn’t miss? Especially MF linked?(Does foxface still exist in some form?) 3. Bars? (Kids are old enough to stay in the hotel in the evening. Not quite old enough to drink yet, even in Germany.) 4. Anything besides the obvious stuff in terms of sightseeing, though mainly we are following the whims of my teenagers, who have their own ideas… Love, B.
  7. I don’t think he’d find it „authentic“ enough TBH.
  8. Eater Munich is surprisingly on point. I’m just glad it’s not a popular foodie destination as the places they call out are rather small and neighborhood-y. German children love liverwurst. I’ve developed a taste for it myself since moving here though the stuff we get is extremely high quality.
  9. Gorgeous country. And not as expensive as other European destinations. Enjoy!

Oh, and now she’s taking photos of her food…

Oh, she liked Breizh Cafe as well. We did that the first night as we got in late and I wanted something not too challenging. But she loved all the food, despite being generally picky. And the French rivaled the Italians on kid friendliness. Wasn’t excepting that at all.

Loved it. She wanted to buy a beret and a striped shirt and carry a baguette under her arm. Managed to dissuade her. 😅
