  1. Not enough people are saying this.
  2. Really enjoyed our meal here. Had a bit of sticker shock looking at the menu but found the portions (at least for the mains) to be fairly generous (though my relatively modest square of Atlantic cod was just under $50). Unfortunately, the garlic butter scallops are only two to an order now instead of four, but as fans of King, we all thought the cooking was comparable. Service was fantastic (coconut cake on the house after we noticed a bunch of other tables ordering it) and it's undeniably cozy inside.
  3. If Starr was truly a visionary he'd relaunch Pasta Flyer nationwide.
  4. Did you end up staying for dinner or going elsewhere?
  5. Sadly, it doesn't. Mine was missing the curled bit of truffle on the right side. I think I was a couple of seats down from you. We were towards the middle of the bar. Still, I would have happily let you steal a truffle if you'd asked.
  6. I just posted in another thread about my experience last night. The vin jaune gelato had passionfruit and I'm pretty sure there was a line of caramel as well. What time were you seated at the bar? I definitely let my half of comte tart languish for a while because I was too full from a late lunch.
  7. Weird. RW is supposed to run for like two more weeks. Walked into Bridges last night and found it pretty expensive for how hit-or-miss it was. No real clunkers, but the comte tart was kind of underwhelming despite the generous amount of truffles. Very nice seared sweetbreads with salsify, but the dish of the night was the vin juane gelato with caramel and passionfruit. Best sundae I've had in a long time ($15 for two scoops, though).
  8. Yes, that's the one, from Angie Mar. I saw the $60 figure on an Eater map but couldn't find a menu online. Is there a link for the $94 lunch prix-fixe?
  9. I can't remember the last time I went to a restaurant for Restaurant Week, but I noticed that Le B is participating with a $60 dinner menu. Considering their regular prices, I'm at least a little curious.
  10. When did NYT start copying NYMag with the GIF lead images? Have to say I really enjoy them.
  11. Thanks for this wonderful remembrance. May his memory be a blessing. I always loved reading his posts on here. I think I sat next to him once when I was on assignment anonymously (he posted about his meal the next day and mentioned briefly chatting with a couple which I'm pretty sure was me and my girlfriend at the time) and I regrettably didn't say hello. I wish I had told him how much I appreciated his writing.
  12. Sadly, it looks like 147 Deli has closed.
  13. There's a troubling lack of restaurant and other food/drink recommendations in this thread. Please share them?
  14. Big shakeup at Eater. No more individual cities coverage, including NYC. https://www.thewrap.com/vox-media-layoffs-thrillist-eater-union/
  15. We showed up a half hour before opening and were maybe eighth in line. By 5pm the line was halfway down the block, but when we left it had quieted down.
  16. Thanks all for the suggestions. My friend had her car with her, so we wound up heading to Ugly Baby after seeing that they're closing. Was every bit as good as I remembered, and the wine/beer lists (which weren't as extensive the last time I ate there) really are impressive.
  17. Red Hook recommendations? It's been several years since my last visit. Was thinking Red Hook Tavern. I love Ferdinando's but it might be too old school for the people I'll be with.
  18. For contemporary Korean, I have a soft spot for Atoboy, and Kisa and Octo are both getting great reviews. Then there's this: https://ny.eater.com/2024/11/11/24287895/yong-chuan-lower-east-side-what-to-order
  19. Go to Comal Oculto and Voraz. Contramar and Rosetta lived up to the hype. Nicos remains underrated.
  20. Recommending a fast food BLT as one of the best fall sandwiches is making my eye twitch. https://ny.eater.com/2024/11/13/24289153/best-sandwiches-fall-2024
  21. Curious which menus prompted this. Speaking of, I forgot to mention Fritai, a Haitian restaurant that was on my list for a few reasons (one of which is that their fritay platter features sausage from Vaucresson's, a family-run sausage company and cafe that was closed during my winter trip).
