hollywood10
At last the Longhorns under Sark have upended Bama under Saban, 34-24.

hollywood10
So Texas is 4-0, however, in the next 2 weeks the Longhorns have to face undefeated Kansas and Oklahoma. If they can prevail (and avoid injuries), they look good for moving ahead to the Big 12 title.

hollywood10
The first set of the College Football Playoff rankings are set to be published on Tuesday night. There are 5 major undefeated teams who would seemingly be in the hunt. Then there are several squads with one loss. Can a one loss team vault ahead of an undefeated team? Can a team that has lost to another one loss team be ranked ahead of the team that beat them? How will this play out for schools like Alabama, Texas and Oklahoma? TBD. What would Bevo say? hollywood10
Sort of a sad day at the Rose Bowl. Tonight was the last Pac10 game ever to be played there. UCLA was favored over Cal. Then the Bruins' QB Garbers was injured on the first drive of the game and that threw the team into a funk. The fate of the Rose Bowl is unclear. There will be a Rose Bowl game at least in 2024. And presumably UCLA will continue to play home games in the stadium. But there won't be any more Pac10 games. Oh brave new world. hollywood10
So out west the issue is will Chip Kelly be retained or dumped by UCLA after the team's impressive victory against USC and its embarrassing loss to Cal. Kelly at least has sort of an excuse concerning the Garbers injury regarding the Cal loss. And the school also has an athletic debt load from prior contract buyouts. Dumping Kelly would only add to that problem. Maybe he needed a more experienced backup QB?
hollywood10
Washington (12-0) faces Oregon (11-1) in the (last?) Pac12 championship game. Oregon's only loss was to Washington. Oregon is favored to avenge that loss in tonight's contest. Ohio State, Texas and Alabama (the other major 11-1 teams) will be watching trying to figure how an Oregon victory gets them entry to the CFP. hollywood10
Well, that didn't work. So the hopes of the 11-1 teams rely on Alabama beating Georgia or Iowa beating Michigan or Louisville beating Florida State. Can Saban's group rise to the occasion? Anthony Bonner
As a Florida fan it would be a wonderful consolation prize for a shitty season (and lots of structural issues) to see Georgia lose in the SecCG and that possibly leading to an undefeated FSU getting left out of the playoffs. The ultimate enemy of my enemy is my friend.
hollywood10
Assuming Michigan and FSU each win their final game tonight, there will be a never ending debate between Texas and Alabama over who deserves to be the fourth CFP team. hollywood10
Could the committee push FSU aside and put both the Longhorns and the Tide in the playoff?

Anthony Bonner
I'm not saying it was right but it was pretty obvious. Can't keep a one loss Sec champ who just beat #1 out. Can't keep the one loss team out who beat the prior team. The close Louisville and Florida games just made it easier to hose fsu. doesn't mean I don't find it funny as hell Edited December 3, 2023 by Anthony Bonner

Evelyn
Thank you. When your center and O Line play like trash. Your OC reverts to plays that don’t utilize your qb’s strengths, you lose. Disappointed? For sure. Do wish I could’ve watched from my couch vs being in Pasadena (especially since the NCAA Playoff committee put us at the Intercontinental Downtown LA -which is about 3 blocks from skid row)-you bet. But considering how everyone had this team dead and buried after week 3. I am still proud of them.
hollywood10
Sort of an odd hotel selection. That used to be a Hilton that was a combined office building and hotel. There was an Intercontinental in a better part of downtown, but I think it might be an Omni now. The Hilton in Pasadena would have been a better selection, but probably booked up. Anthony Bonner
Really an incredible game. Alabama should have been run out of the Stadium in the first half, then Saban definitely won the half time adjustments and Bama dominated the first 25 minutes of the second half. Then the roles reversed. But maybe more Bama losing it than Michigan winning it.
Anthony Bonner
Some dude on Twitter pointed out in q1 the Bama center was incapable of snapping the ball and that ended up being a huge deal.
Evelyn
Unfortunately he’s had issues most of the season. Early on he was snapping high (like over Milroe’s head) multiple times a game. Then he went through a stretch of games going left or right with the occasional high one in multiple games. Then he was decent for a few games. Then it became low worm burners. The line (who have had lots of injuries) and Milroe did a pretty good job of recovering them overall. But last night was his worst game of tho year. While I won’t bother watching it, my guess is Washington will run UM out of the stadium.
