  1. Sadly, Dillon Johnson was injured and Michael Penix was apparently hurt (ribs?) in the first or second quarter.
  2. The Archies are making wine now?
  3. Best screenplay and best international film. Not bad.
  4. A film that works you over but is well worth it is "Anatomy of a Fall" from France. You might quibble with courtroom scenes that emphasize dramatic revelations over compliance with rules of procedure and evidence but it's all done with amazing skill. Available in some theatres and on Prime. Excellent in either format.
  5. She had to use her energy to flip her hair.
  6. A new version of Mickey. https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2024/1/4/2214955/-Cartoon-Meet-Tom-the-Dancing-Bug-s-newest-character-Mickey-Mouse?pm_campaign=front_page&pm_source=top_news_slot_3&pm_medium=web
  7. Seriously? https://www.today.com/food/drinks/doritos-flavored-liquor-rcna129380 And if you act now you lucky New Yorkers can get your hands on some for a limited time.
  8. For years Disney has actively defended its IP rights to all its characters and works. The case of the Air Pirate Funnies is instructive. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Pirates Despite lots of congressional lobbying resulting in some copyright extensions, Disney's copyright on the early Mickey Mouse character Steamboat Willie has expired. So now Willie will become a bad guy in one or more slasher flicks. https://jabberwocking.com/quote-of-the-day-mickey-the-slasher/

  10. If Penix can connect with his receivers as he did against Texas, the game will be over at the half.
  11. Sort of an odd hotel selection. That used to be a Hilton that was a combined office building and hotel. There was an Intercontinental in a better part of downtown, but I think it might be an Omni now. The Hilton in Pasadena would have been a better selection, but probably booked up.
  12. You might prefer Beyond Burger.
  13. 2021 Bougrier Muscadet. Had some tonight with an outsized crab cake from Jimmy's Famous in Maryland. Who knew a crab cake didn't have to taste like some crushed down crunchy little crab McNugget? Fine stuff.
  14. He lived to 72 whereas his wife only made it to around 60. If the film is at all accurate, he was a prodigious smoker and maybe had some coke as well all while maintaining liaisons with various men and women.
  15. At 100. He put Napa Valley on the map. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/12/15/dining/drinks/mike-grgich-dead.html
  16. 2018 Viticcio Chianti Classico Riserva. Legitimate stuff.

    Bobby Bonilla redux. https://www.insidehook.com/sports/shohei-ohtani-bobby-bonilla-contract
  18. So you see him primarily in a DH role?
  19. A mere $700 million for Ohtani. He's 29 now. How many years can he last at a high level? The Dodgers have a history of burning out pitchers' arms. Kershaw is now 35.
  20. How about those Cowboys?
  21. May as well slam the cupboard door a few times before you get it fixed.
