only vaguely related - has anyone else been to the WatchHouse that opened on 5th and 52nd? Its a london import. Its totally mockable (We call it the oligarch's coffee shop in my office) but their standard bulk brewed coffee is really excellent and the price is only moderately offensive if you consider the location and you use the loyalty app. I only note this because they have a location in St John Wood (next to Maida Vale) and sell beans. The price may be more offensive over there. Re: St. John I tend to stay in Farringdon given Lizzie Line + access to other rail as I usually often have at least one meeting out of town + and I find it convenient to nabes I want to eat in. I was trying to get a colleague to go there on a drop in one night and was told "Its always full, and its always filled with Americans"

I'm guessing you know that Impala and Mountain are the same group? (As is Brat). I enjoyed Planque pretty recently as well as Brawn. I've also been to St. J B&W recently and well, I think there are better options in London at this point. I really liked Cadet if you want explore a bit tho I think I was there in '24. Have you done the trip out to The Sportsman? Do you mean Rochelle Canteen? I would also point out that all of your place are kind of the same. A good same - don't get me wrong. I adore some of those places or their siblings. And I'm not sure any of the places I suggested are any different. I'm there reasonably often but usually quickly/colleagues pick the restos.

the price that wouldn't have cleared this market would have led to much teeth gnashing. It has a certain logic given your other option is to fly from LAX to CPH. If you have the money, but not the time - why not? I'm not saying I would but there is a logic

this place is still the best around although it is slowly being discovered. Too bad its a hike from me. Generally post-covid food around here has gotten worse.
