  1. I'm going to the oden omakase pop up, and I thought others might also be interested. https://resy.com/cities/new-york-ny/venues/dashi-okume-brooklyn?date=2025-03-08&seats=2&query=dashi oden&activeView=list
  2. Found a bottle of green Chartreuse at the not Trader Joe’s wine store on 14th and 3rd.
  3. Now I feel like going and getting an appetizer and a glass of water.

    Supper

Caramelized cabbage in tomato sauce. I had a note on this recipe that it took much longer than indicated, but last night it did not. Which is good, 'cause I was hungry. Shrimp and firefly squid salad. I still have squid left over (this is the second dish I've made with it), and I'm getting a little sick of squid. Eh.
  5. The Oscars, of course, and I didn't really disagree with any of the winners. Of course, I've only seen five of the BP nominees, so what do I know.
  6. Egg, cheddar, chimichurri sauce on a nice big biscuit.
  7. Holding out for Jerseyshoresy.

    Supper

    And not even paneer. Tofu.
  9. Flow. Wordless Latvian animated film about animals helping each other escape a flood. Some suspense, some heartwarming-ness, cool scenery: is it Cambodia? is it Venice? is there someplace where you can find lemurs, secretary birds and golden labs? Nice timeline cleanse for me.

    Supper

    Saag paneer, more or less.
  11. I was recently dumb enough to accept 300g of sourdough starter from one of my neighbors, as you know, because I've already complained about the bread brick I made with it. (I have since made a much more respectable bread.) Now I am finding ways to use the discard, because I don't like discarding things. My sister gave me a very fine recipe for discard crackers, which I've made twice, and today was my second shot at biscuits. They were good the first time, but too small. I don't have a biscuit cutter, so I used a rocks glass. This time I hit on the brilliant idea of using my cocktail shaker. And my food processor to incorporate the butter, because life is too short to spend any of it grating frozen butter. Nice big biscuits. And the really good news is that I convinced my friend Mindy to take 200g of starter. Good luck, Mindy! 🤣

I guess we have to wait for more info. I've seen mutterings online that a car was left running in the garage, but I would not say those were reliable sources.

  15. I got to "an alchemically rich menu" and spontaneously combusted.
  16. Yep. I'll never run short of sage, sorrel, tarragon or kale.
  17. Watching over my tomato seedlings like a hawk.

    Supper

Shrimp & squid with chimichurri sauce, which was too salty when I made it but is mysteriously fine now. A slaw of broccoli stems, Brussels sprouts and carrots.

Monkfish on spinach and under romesco sauce, baked potato with scallions and sour cream.
