Henry Taylor: B Side at The Whitney

Saw this fabulous show at the Whitney last week:  Henry Taylor: B Side. 

 

Should not be missed.

I got there yesterday and was headed here to recommend it. Essential and surprising large. I will say that I thought it was uneven, that some paintings simply didn't work (he reportedly paints at speed and sometimes it shows). But there are enough amazing paintings here that that doesn't matter.

Here’s one that transfixed me.

Went back for a second look this time with a 10 year old developing artist, in tow. The kid really dug it and loved finding connections to her lived experience and our family in some of the subjects and subject matter. She really adored the Ruth Asawa, as well.

Credit to the museum, they are heavily advertising the closing weeks.
