  1. The last time we had dinner at Craft was on March 5, 2020, a few days before the Covid shutdown.
  2. Just the other day, I was wondering what became of “Voyager.” So sad to hear this. I always enjoyed her posts. Condolences to her family.
  3. Michael and I loved Augustine. Had many meals there both lunch and dinner the entire time it was open. During the last few years, Markus Glocker became chef/consultant (while still at Batard). He added several truly enjoyable Austrian dishes to the menu.
  4. According to Eater, Jean-George’s Tin Building has closed.
  5. Via Eater, The Leopard des Artistes closed on February 15th.
  6. Gabriel Kreuther is known for his two-week aged, hay-smoked duck breast. Checked my photos and found we had it as part of a tasting menu in June 2019.
  7. Thanks for posting that! I didn’t see it last night. However, it is streaming on the PBS site, so I’ll watch it on my iPad.
  8. Wonderful video! Great that he’s in extraordinarily fine shape! TCM is doing a birthday tribute today from noon to 8 p.m.: “Bye Bye Birdie,” “Mary Poppins,” and “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.” Reruns of ”Diagnosis: Murder,” the t.v. series in which he stars as a medical doctor who solves crimes together with his son, a police detective, played by his real son, Barry Van Dyke, are still shown regularly on one of the Hallmark channels.

    Le Rock

We had dinner at Le Roc in 2023. I wrote about it on my blog. https://thewizardofroz.wordpress.com/2023/09/12/four-days-of-al-fresco-dining-in-nyc-le-roc
  10. 19 out of 25. It should have been 20 because I knew the right answer but accidentally clicked the wrong line. There were several I had no idea but guessed correctly.
  11. He still has his eponymous Italian restaurant in Manhattan. Pre-pandemic, we had several very good dinners there.

    Eater

Sietsema was let go from Eater in December 2024. He now has a Substack newsletter, “Robert Sietsema’s New York.”
  13. @Evelyn, I’m curious to know if Casa Vasca is still excellent. So, if you do go there, I hope you will post about your experience.
  14. Casa Vasca, in the Ironbound section of Newark, is not far from the Prudential Center. We haven’t been there in ages, but the food was always excellent.
  15. The only blog I know of entirely dedicated to restaurant reviews is endoedibles.com, by Dr. Michael Uzmann, aka uhockey. (Note: I post about restaurants on my blog but not exclusively.)
