There was an obituary in the Times.

That'll be breakfast on Sunday.

I have to remember to not make an all-prune compote for Passover. I love it, but it doesn't love me.

I had a little trouble loosening the sponge cake from the tube pan, so it looks like it has mange on the outside. Tastes great though, and rose superbly. @bloviatrix, you could be a heathen like me and just make sure that there are no obviously chametz-based ingredients in the food. 😉 The Best Foods mayo & Gulden's mustard are staying in the fridge.

Leftover eggplant & olive caponata I made for a potluck, with feta cheese sprinkled on top. Eaten on toast; anything left after tomorrow will get the matzoh treatment.

I don't recall any questions on wombat poo, or any other animals' poo for that matter.

Maida Heatter's cookbooks only had illustrations, drawn by her daughter. The photograph covers featured just a handful of the books' offerings, so not much help there.

A Corpse Reviver #2, using this fancy gin Nicol brought back from Florida.

Another salad for dinner: RG Pardina lentils, canned salmon, red pepper and carrot strips, and cherry tomatoes, served over butter lettuce.

A spell of very hot weather is a-coming to the Bay Area, so I made a grain & bean salad using a recipe from an old RG newsletter. Negro de Suelo beans, quinoa, (frozen) corn, cherry tomatoes, red onion, avocado, and a lime juice-honey-oil-vinegar dressing.

Yotam Ottolenghi's One-Pan Black Chickpeas with Baharat and Orange, using the RG Ceci Neri. Meyer lemon souffle (with our own lemons) for dessert.

The one time I got up at a ridiculous hour for Shakespeare in the Park was to see Patrick Stewart in The Tempest in 1995. And I still wouldn't have gotten a ticket if I hadn't spied a cluster of my co-workers near the front of the line and joined them (in the days when they'd let you do that). When Meryl Streep was doing The Cherry Orchard in 2001, I just bought a subscription to the Public Theater's upcoming season because that year, they were throwing in a SitP ticket with each subscription. I'm glad I did, otherwise I never would have seen Elaine Stritch At Liberty.

Driveway is torn up, but they can't pour the concrete until Monday because there's a very damp patch that needs to fully dry out. The dampness probably comes from the gutter drainspout, but in going in the crawlspace our contractor discovered 3 types of mold. Plus the earthquake retrofit isn't fully up to snuff. The previous owner did a lot of DIY stuff himself. We knew that he wasn't as good as he thought he was, but we're discovering even more "fun" things.

Lentil & sausage stew from the book "Fagioli", using the RG Black Caviar Lentils. Served over polenta, with seared purple cauliflower with capers and pine nuts on the side.
-
Warm here, so I made the RG tuna & white bean salad with the Cassoulet beans. Good crusty bread on the side and a glass of very dry fino sherry from Lustau to drink.

Aw man, Bendix! One of my '90s faves. @backyardchef, were you at RUB when a car drove through the front window?
-
N was in the mood for comfort food, so she made dal with the RG split red lentils and herb flatbread on the side.

Guessing the latter. Our local Puerto Rican restaurant is running Bad Bunny-themed specials today.

Our local Grocery Outlet had Rogue Creamery's Brutal Blue in stock. Another very intense blue, the kind you can only have small pieces of.

We have someone to do the driveway, but after not raining for weeks we have several days' worth of rain predicted for the coming week, meaning that the actual work is going to have to be delayed. At least the railing part can be done now.

Last spring, the NY Times published a special supplement on springtime pasta recipes. Last night, I made their spaghetti with mushrooms and broccolini. It's an Asian-style stir-fry that uses noodles instead of rice for the starch, though I'm surprised that it calls for spaghetti rather than Asian noodles. Still pretty good, though.

And the sorrel was also from our garden.
