Seeking Honolulu recommendations

Recommended Posts

Mostly low-mid range, seafood & vegetarian. As mentioned on another thread, we've been to Oahu before and enjoyed House Without A Key, the now defunct Pineapple Room, shrimp trucks and noodle shops. In particular, I'd love to find some fish that's hard to get on the East Coast.

Hawaii has gotten very pricy. I go a couple of times a year. And have done that for many years. The restaurant prices in general jumped substantially with all the COVID revenge travel.

I should add Zippy's to the list. It's a favorite of locals. Pricing is gentle. Food is solid. Lots of menu options. Atmosphere casual. And they are all over the island. They just opened their first one on the mainland here in Las Vegas. Also, lots of fiid trucks around Waikaki and near University of Hawaii.

And, if you have a sweet tooth- Leonard's for malasadas.

I made a reservation anyway. Austerity next week!

I think you will be glad you did. It is a favorite of the locals. And of mine. Michelle's desserts are excellent. And Wade's savory dishes are dangerous. I always order more than I should because I want to try them. But somehow I finish everything. And am glad my glutton personality came out 😄. Be aware, the portions (to me) are large.

Thanks to you both! @MitchW, I think you gave me that link on another thread, but thanks for the reminder.

Hey, that was me.🤨. And Kathy told me that she’s now joined HO so maybe this will spark some Hawaii posts there as well.

A thousand pardons, good sir. So far we have had sashimi and poke from Maguro Brothers (good, but not substantially different than what you’d get at home, except for the poke, which was way better) and a breakfast sandwich and “dirty horchata” (need to have this every day) from a food truck called Munch and Brunch. Also stocked the mini fridge with can cocktails from ABC, and I would like ABC to expand to NYC.IMG_1831.thumb.jpeg.bd54cc3cc1ae75ee2ba7c7d8d2a9deff.jpegIMG_1838.thumb.jpeg.1429ec7d0187e49c8d6c0df074d86266.jpeg
