small h Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 Things look good on the balcony this year. Got some sungolds... Some premios... Basil, sage, a little dill and parsley... Rosemary, mint, catnip.. And sorrel. You know what became of the kale, but there's more getting going. 2 Quote
small h Posted July 13, 2024 Author Posted July 13, 2024 5' X 10', give or take. I pack 'em in good! 1 Quote
StephanieL Posted July 13, 2024 Posted July 13, 2024 Our garden got fried, between all of the intense heat and no water for over a week while we were on vacation. We were getting a lot of berries before then, and several other crops have given up the ghost for the year. At least the (small) tomatoes seem to be OK. 2 Quote
small h Posted November 12, 2024 Author Posted November 12, 2024 Please join me in welcoming Sungold #100 2024. We weren't sure we'd get here, but we did. Hardest working plant on the balcony. (No disrespect to the Anaheim pepper, the kale, the tarragon, the sage, the parsley and the mint, but there can only be one champion.) 1 Quote
StephanieL Posted June 9, 2025 Posted June 9, 2025 N has now set up an elaborate water timing system for while we're on vacation, since it's not going to rain again until October. Hopefully, we won't lose too much. Quote
small h Posted June 9, 2025 Author Posted June 9, 2025 Conversely, I have yet to set up my irrigation system in the Catskills, since it's rained at least once every four days since I planted. Quote
StephanieL Posted September 20, 2025 Posted September 20, 2025 The first bearings of our persimmon tree have arrived. They should be fully ripe in a few weeks. 1 Quote
StephanieL Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 We also have a bumper crop of passion fruit. 3 Quote
maison rustique Posted September 22, 2025 Posted September 22, 2025 I'm making trips to Topeka this week to tend to the cat and garden while my sis and BIL are out of town. I picked a few tomatoes today. There were so many that had gone bad (They didn't have time for a few days before they left.) but there are tons and tons that are green and ripening. I told her via text that at the rate they are producing, they are going to have tomatoes into December!! Watch my dinner posts because I'll be eating lots of tomatoes. Quote
