My vet said she sees it a lot around Valentine's and Mother's Day because they are in a lot of flower arrangements. She says most time it is either fatal before the owner realizes how sick the cat is. Or, the owner doesn't want to spend a LOT of money to try to save the cat.

Maybe they get a good percentage of the conference's TV revenue?

My alma mater decided to move from the FCS (old Division I-AA) to the BCS (or whatever it's called now) a few years ago. I think it's nuts. No way is the program up for the big time, and the school shouldn't be investing the $$ it takes to play that high.

Good lord.

My start of the pandemic OTR microwave oven died on its 5th anniversary. The same model now sells for 64% more.

Steve name-checks Cervo’s and Eel Bar in today’s email newsletter about Minnow (“it turns out the Minnow team also owns four restaurants in the New York area: Hart's, Cervo's, The Fly, and Eel Bar. Gillian Graham, chef/partner of Hart's, shared this recipe and photo with us”) but the references somehow did not make it into the website article.

The reason I was coming here was that the latest episode of the TV show Buccaneers features "Superstar" in the soundtrack. Despite being set in the 1870s.

I knew lilies were not safe for cats, but that's very dire! Luckily, I ate them all and did not share with Laszlo.
-
it's especially weird to me because day lillies (and most others) are highly toxic to cats. Any exposure, be it eating part of flower or a leaf, licking pollen or drinking water lillies have been in can cause their kidneys to fail or kill them in 24-72 hours.

Maybe I should go with Aqua I?

I know you're talking pros- but, just take a look at what Texas Tech (or Ohio State in football last year) is doing in college athletics. Billionaire Boosters are no longer "going rogue" with McDonald's bags handed under the table to kids. Now it's legal to hand over checks for millions and have a photo/video op all over Insta or Twitter. It'll be whoever has the most billionaire donors comes out on top. Unless the NCAA actually institutes some guidelines. But they are too busy getting ready to ruin the NCAA Basketball Tournament to make more money to cover the House vs NCAA verdict. It will be interesting to see if the "adults in the room" can bring some common sense back to college sports. The current model is not sustainable for most programs over the long term.

I don't know how I lived all these decades and am only finding out about how many flowers are edible that I never knew about. Last year I found out about hostas. Now I find out about day lilies!

What is happening? We can make this trade. This star can go there. But don't we have teams anymore? Or will hedge funds own high profile players? Can we dial this back a little?

I really did try to move these critical conversations to their own thread. Sorry Foxface (Maria is in Barcelona right now.)

Day lily buds with garlic scapes and sage butter. Lentil soup with sour cream, kale and cilantro. Day lily buds: foraged. Kale, sage, cilantro: balcony-grown. My subsistence living continues apace.

Oh, Noble Rot Soho is in the old Gay Hussar building. Interesting.

For sure. I think they are lacking quite a lot of things behind the scenes. I don't even know that they have management. Bad experiences: " they split with their management team, lost touring revenue due to lockdowns, and were without a label for the first time" (circa COVID).
